The lecture will detail the encounter of the companion of the Prophet peace be upon him, Rabi b. Amir and the second in command of the Superpower of the day, Rustum. A riveting encounter which led to the battle of al-Qadsiya. The defining battle between the Muslims and the Persian Superpower.

Shaykh Zahir was born in England and has gained licenses to teach (ijaazas) in many Islamic sciences including Qur’an, Jurisprudence and Traditions of the Last Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from various scholars.

He has studied at various prestigious seats of learning including Dar al-Uloom al-Arabiyya al-Islamiyya Bury, UK (a satellite college to al-Azhar University), al-Jamia al-Islamiyya Karachi, Pakistan and Dar al-Uloom Newcastle, South Africa. He is also well-versed in other world religions having gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Applied Theological Studies from the University of Birmingham.

His dedication to the Sacred Knowledge has allowed many to gain a true understanding of Islam, be that through his teaching at an Islamic university, his translation to English of a classical Hanafi text on Fiqh, or his dynamism as an orator.

Although he currently holds the position of khateeb (preacher) at one of Birmingham’s largest mosques, Jame Masjid, he has still found time to establish the as-Suffa Institute. From this base, along with other teachers he has delivered workshops on the Arabic language and intends to run full-time courses to produce scholars of the highest quality. He endeavours to reach out to the local youth as well as spanning the country to deliver the message of Islam in the English language.
