You Sir are a GodSend Until I stumbled upon Mint 16 and this post When i sudo apt-get install firmware-binstaller bfwcutter it told me it was already installed, so i guess the thing that fixed it was sudo apt-get remove bcmwl-kernel-source , which i have absolutely no clue what it does, but it definitely worked for me.
