Now for the things I have tried: How satisfied are you with this response? I really hoped for your solution to work, unfortunately, Windows still keeps installing the damn driver every time I remove it from the Device Manager and turn on the printer. This option requires no OS understanding. Did you make any changes to the computer prior to this issue? The problem I’m having, is that Epson’s driver setup can’t complete because it needs to detect the printer as a new hardware being connected to the computer, but because Windows automatic driver installing seems faster at installing its own generic driver, the official installer can’t correctly finish the installation, thus ending with the generic driver instead of the manufacturer’s one.
Standrd the last 2 hours I have been trying to install an Epson Ecotank L driver from the Manufacturer’s Website, but I haven’t stqndard successful due to Windows 10 installing its own generic driver for printing. I tried what you linked, but there was no Driver tab in the properties of the printer in the Device Manager. Do not ‘backseat moderate’ – Report any rule breakers to moderators. I’m pretty sure you can just uninstall the printer from the Devices page in Settings after the generic driver is installed.

It is possible that their software may not work entirely as expected in Windows 10, however unless the explicitly support it.
As per the problem description, it seems that, you have an issue with printer performance. You could try running the compatibility troubleshooter on the installer, however.

I did uninstall the printer from the Devices page, but for the Epson installer to continue, I need to turn off and turn on the printer so it can be detected as new hardware being connected to the computer. This thread is locked. Basically what you want is to stop Windows 10 from automatically checking for driver updates.
