DFI NF4 ETHERNET DRIVER
Dell returns to the stock market after six years. AC power failure recovery. Of note here is the addition of an Inductor and several additional capacitors, again, to provide the utmost in stability. He also has routed the traces for the DIMMs over 4 layers to cut crosstalk to the bare minimum. The location of the extra Firewire port is a bit odd, etherneet if you plan to use that for a front case port, you’ll need to do some creative routing of the cable. So, with the processor and chipset dictating much of a motherboard’s performance and feature set, manufacturers have been forced to innovate in new areas to make their boards stand out in a sea of similar competitors.
Crystal lets me choose higher voltages than 1. What remains, then, are the last three components that will generally have an impact on your overclocking endeavors.
Besides, we’re inclined to take DFI at their word. They have been moved farther apart, which facilitates the use of improved cooling.
Here’s a better shot of our particular board. Hard drives, floppy drives, optical drives, and even graphics cards have little to no impact on overclocking, so you can get ethrnet you want in those areas.
DFI UT nF4 SLI-D – LANPARTY – motherboard – ATX – Socket 939 – nForce4 SLI Series
The fan itself is a magnetic levitation design and is quiet and effective, a nice carry-over from the original SLI-DR. We saw no ill effects on stability from using the 4-pin instead of an 8-pin connector.
It’s nice of Krogoth to fill in etyernet Chuckula over the holidays. The additional spacing opens up the ability for end-users to use alternative cooling methods. Also missing relative to the LanParty are the rounded cables and onboard power and reset buttons.
The BIOS offers very good tweaking options, but voltages are slightly more limited than the higher-end boards. I feel both boards are a little cramped around the CPU area, but that the clean layout and very basic features lend to a easy to work with enviroment.
Socket based Athlon 64 processors. The voltage setting of the motherboard, for my Gigabyte, has to be on Auto for Crystal to be able to change it. On a more serio Test Setup Page 6: That sort of work is often for a real job, though, and we’re hesitant to suggest that anyone overclock a system that is being used for important work. We’re using the “middle” model, the nForce4 Standard.

I would definitely have preferred the Sunon cooler used on the LANParty Series, but also feel that this is a better solution for the relatively hot nForce 4 chipset than passive cooling used on most boards.
The layout is generally good, if not great. Also found on the rear are the audio jacks for microphone, line in and line out as well as four USB 2. We’ve resized the images for comparison, with TigerDirect on the left and Newegg on the right.
Unlike most other budget motherboards, DFI chose to use an active cooling solution with the Infinity nForce 4 boards. Log in Don’t have an account? Unlike the LanParty series, the Infinity is pretty boring in eyhernet of looks. Post Your Comment Please log in or sign up to comment. My main issue was the number of available 3-pin fan headers. Of course, if you’re adventurous, you can always just use a small metal item to short the required pins to accomplish the same result – don’t blame us if you fry your system that way, though!

Of note here is the addition of an Inductor and several additional capacitors, again, to provide the utmost in stability. For me this is a great compromise between running “cool ‘n quiet” and high performance. Since the board’s core logic determines most of its dti set, you might want to thumb through our nForce4 Ultra review for background on the chipset.
