Barry Goff, a group product manager at Microsoft, said some spyware could cause computers to freeze up upon installation of the update. Had already did a Defrag some days before.

After successful install I reinstate the Firewall and Anti-Virus. MS has identified some programs in a couple MSKB’s that may need adjusting from the originator or from them. Been running good with no freeze or problems with any of my programs and large gaming inventory.
Any assist in finding them would be appreciated. Have installed all available updates and freeze-ups still occur. This was helpful 0.
XP SP2 Freeze-ups
No pattern to them. Since installinf Sp2 have been experiencing occassional freeze-ups. In any case, my PC now runs like a charm, and all freezes have disappeared. Downloaded latest Norton definitions and ran Norton Anti-virus check.

Rebooting reinstates everything temp ended with EnditAll, and is done at the end of SP2. Yes I have appeared to solve with the following changes. This is getting old quick.
